Stop Worrying About a Website

Starting a side-business can quickly become overwhelming. Since you probably already have more to do than you care to think about, let me encourage you to take one thing off your list and your mind.

Don’t worry about a website – you don’t need one.

I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s true.

A website can be helpful to your business, but more often than not, it becomes an overwhelming headache when you’re just starting out.

Avoid this frustration and expense by not having one (at least not right now).

Nick Pellegrino, a chef and restaurateur in Franklin, Tennessee, is a great example of this. His creative pop-up Italian restaurant, Mangia, has turned into a booming restaurant that is consistently booked up months in advance.

And get this—if you want to find out more about his restaurant, you can visit his Facebook page. That’s right, a free social media site. Because even after three years in business, he still doesn’t have a website. Yet he’s managed to fill reservations months in advance through creative word-of-mouth marketing.

Many people believe a website is their rite of passage into legitimacy. But it’s simply not. Now more than ever, there are plenty of free options to promote your business without the added expense and upkeep of a website.

This is great news, because it means you can focus your marketing efforts where they will actually make you money.

Later on, when the business is stable and the revenues justify it, you can create a professional website—if it makes sense for your business.
